Thx...Yes it is there !
It is really not officially released... But it is 30+ elo better than Thinker 5.4A.. I did a match Thinker 5.4A vs Rybka 2.2n2 and the results came out 25/50!! So it is a pretty big change.
Thanks, SpiderG

Hi, Chessknight: yes, it is in the official site, but.. please read the sequel.
Hi, Spider.
Maybe I was wrong in posting the link, but, as I hope you know, I 'm always trying to be quite respectful towards chess engine authors: actually, as you can see in: http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/topic_show.pl?tid=10151, after Lance' post, I didn't use this version .
Now, 15 days gone, it is still available at their public site: if it were limited to beta-testers, I believe it would be deleted. BUT in their site there is still an open link to the new one...is it not officially released just because the link refers to an older engine?
Sorry if I did something wrong posting the link, but I don't believe I did...

I repeat (emphasis mine), There is no harm in downloading the file. Its just that it is not an official release. It is not tested thoroughly and most changes are experimental. Its OK to tell users about it. They just have to be also informed about the status of that build.
noctiferus and Vempele
Thanks for posting details. Somehow I missed old thread.
Tks.

Why would you use Rybka 2.2n2??? Very pathetic engine compared to Rybka 3 or even other engines like Naum 4 and Fritz 11
If you test using Rybka 3 and Thinker still wins, then I will be impressed; otherwise I find this tournament useless.

Because you get much better bang for your buck than with Rybka 3.
i guess here we are talking in terms of FREE chess engines.
and that might leads to the tourney Thinker vs. Rybka2.2n2.
i guess.

Aaron2chess4u... Do you have any idea what the competition was for Rybka 2.2n2 vs Thinker?? Today, Rybka 2.2n2 is the best free chess engine... So how could you say that Rybka 2.2n2 is weak?? Rybka, is free. Naum and Deep Fritz are NOT!! I test FREE chess engines...
Thanks, SpiderG
Thanks, SpiderG
I downloaded today thinker 5.4c but it did not work in my pc xp 64 bits. I install MPx64 Inert but nothing. Tell me why, please

easy....man....easy....chill off....take it easy.
B'coz everybody can express their ideas freely.
We do not fight here. Better place would be on the board on Playchess or Yahoo or FICS.
I love Rybka 3.0 is something like fantasy, but the results SpiderG posted here is reality.
Aaron2chess4u
I also agree with Aron2chess4u that Rybka3.0 or DeepRybka3.0 might be strongest engines at present on this planet and very tough to beat.
I could not beat Rybka3.0 (Khadem on FICS) till now.
I do love Rybka 3.0, but I always prefer better performing Free or open source engines, GUIs and DataBase(s).
SpiderG
Just in case you run thinker vs bright 0.4a please do not forget to post results and pgn here.
If you have Rybka 3.0 as well, feel free to run similar tourney with both versions of Thinker 5.4C and 5.4D and post the performance difference.
Result might be interesting b'coz I love analyzing good and strong games.

Sorry... I will run the Bright vs Thinker tourney... Bright will use the drdeebiii book. (I couldn't get the updated version to work)
3/0 50 game match. Thinker will use Main Book 8.0
Thanks, SpiderG
P.S. Khadem on FICS uses Fritz 11 NOT Rybka 3. :)

Sorry, mis-tell,Till now I could not beat Khadem and BlackDemon, both.
Is it by default?
You may try this Thinker book HERE with Thinker5.4D, just simply unzip in Thinkers directory, that's all.

Remember that 2.2n2 is only about two years old, and was the strongest engine back then. Also, it is still one of the very strongest engines, although a few(!) engines rank higher now. So, a match and -result which would have been the ultimate sensation in March 2007, cannot be "useless" in March 2009... Also, it is relevant for the competition among freeware only.
I'd rather say, testing a freeware engine against Rybka 3 isn't very useful (at least not until other results indicate that it can make sense; this may happen if we remember Rybka 1.0 beta :-) ).
